Miss the days when "health spa" Happy Ending catered to the well- and high-heeled instead of scroungy rockers? Well, that scene hasn't died; it's simply relocated to the Gansevoort Hotel's basement which is literally an active spa by day. Beyond a nondescript lobby door then down a flight of stairs, ash-colored bricks, creamy marble pillars and tile floors radiate clean, bright modernity. In boxy, curtained treatment rooms with glass walls glowing red, groups pour $300-$1,500 bottles while admiring candlelight reflected in three small infinity-edge hydro-pools in the center of the larger space. Late into the night, D.J.'s like Juske and AM get them off their Taverniti jeans with a mix of rock, pop, and hip hop while waitresses in bathrobes and flip-flop pumps serve up cocktails such as the G Spa Lemonade (an acquired taste of mint, vodka, and lemonade) as well as Ono imports such as crab pizza and sushi and sashimi platters. G Lounge only accommodates 75, so if you are not a hotel guest and are not on the list, you can try your luck with the discerning doorman by showing up before 11 p.m. and doing your best to look like America's Next Top Model.

Bridal

This spa and salon in Hotel Gansevoort’s lower level uses about 80 percent green products and offers facials (from $70) and a to-die-for couples massage under a rooftop cabana ($180).
