Profile
Opened in 2005 by former model Kim D’Amato and business partner Nausil Zaheer, Priti (Sanskrit for “peace, love, satisfaction”) encourages self-indulgence with a conscience. With its sage-colored walls, bamboo floors, and hand-carved tables and chairs, the garden-level space could be initially mistaken for a Japanese tearoom, but the front seating area is in fact for manicures, and four silk-cushioned stations in back accommodate pedicures. (A child-friendly space, Priti also has a small area where kids can read and play games.) Nail treatments involve a variety of organic essential oils, fresh fruits, flowers, and herbs. The Priti Delicious mani-pedi treats hands and feet to a warm bath of fresh orange and ginger slices, an organic orange-ginger scrub, and an orange blossom-cream massage. The spa uses non-toxic, cruelty-free nail polish and removers, which are safe for children and expecting moms. In back is a separate room for body treatments such as deep-tissue, Swedish, and Shiatsu massage; reflexology; and waxing. Priti facials are customized to each client’s skin type and use Dr. Alkaitis Organic Skin Food—literally edible products that are easily absorbed by the skin—plus essential oils and shea butters. Eastern bodywork techniques like cupping and moxibustion are offered as well.
BridalThis back-to-nature spa offers an organic alternative to traditional treatments. The spa’s signature manicures and pedicures ($25 to $95) feature an essential-oil-infused foot bath, soy polish remover, and nontoxic nail polishes (and you can nibble on the complimentary fresh fruits and veggies). Botanical facials ($60 to $160) and massages ($110) are also popular.
