Profile
Located in the Ritz-Carlton hotel on the southernmost tip of Battery Park City, this French-American steakhouse plays to its crowd of high-end business travelers by offering an array of fresh local seafood and Certified Angus Prime Beef. The dining room is airy and spacious, with light wood accents lending a modern flair to art deco stylings yet the studied newness make this a restaurant that wouldn't be out of place—or any different—in St. Louis or Phoenix. Several long conference-style tables seem geared to CEOs holding lunch meetings with the staff from Omaha. All the dishes are presented with gusto as colors and shapes jumping off the plate: meats like the half chicken and filet mignon are served with minimum garnish and come covered with subtle variations on classic French sauces; a more eclectic dish, the horseradish crusted salmon, is layered atop a parsnip puree beneath a layer of sauteed spinach. The restaurant also has a wide range of cheeses and wines, sure to impress that client from out of town.
