Profile
At first glance, the 100-year-old restaurant seems stuffy and absurdly formal, but pass through the dining room and head outside for a unique experience right in the middle of the theater district. The beautiful outdoor garden is complete with putti dolphin sculptures set into the recesses and heavy white tables and chairs arranged around a small fountain with cherubim. Abundant foliage and low lighting set the perfect backdrop for haute dining: a refreshingly tasty fennel and parmigiano salad and the capon breast with foie gras are exquisite starters. The roasted rabbit is moist, the tiny shrimp risotto creamy, and the wine list extensive (and expensive). An accommodating staff is prompt with explanations and suggestions, but never pushy, allowing for a relaxing and memorable night under the stars.
