Profile
Along with the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty, the Rainbow Room is one place true New Yorkers expect never to visit. Except, of course, when you have to: For a show-off wedding, an out-of-towner dinner, or just to satisfy your curiosity about whether it lives up to the romantic lore. With spectacular views—the George Washington bridge in one corner, Central Park in another—and a newly renovated interior complete with circular dance floor inset and Art Deco starburst designs, a massively glittering chandelier, and access to the magical wraparound terrace, it certainly looks impressive. Add to that a revamped menu of seasonal American dishes from chef Jonathan Wright only offered a la carte Monday nights (along with live music), or buffet style on Sundays, you may want to consider a visit, just to say you have experienced it. Until then, dancing on the deck of the Empire State Building would be a lot cheaper.
WeddingsThe famed local institution offers six private rooms, all decorated in an Art Deco style, with a rotating dance floor in the main dining room. The space holds up to 300 people for dinner and offers spectacular views of Central Park and the Empire State Building. Prices upon request.
