Profile
Floralies arrangements regularly make the rounds of a heady social circuit via appearances at Le Bernardin, Cartier, and the Four Seasons Hotel. These days, the florist concentrates on corporate clients and special events somewhat exclusively, so you won’t find buckets of blooms ready for impulse buys, just a dozen centerpieces marching down the small storefront on their way to delivery. Customers meet with staff to review portfolios and discuss ideas, and since Floralies only books one social event per weekend, it’s best to plan well in advance. The signature style has an Asiatic influence—bamboo, chrysanthemums, orchids, etc.—while containers tend toward square-glass vases, thereby keeping the focus on the flowers.
WeddingsTraditional, romantic designer Kostas Panagopoulos uses viburnum, lilacs, and hyacinths in abundance. He never takes on more than one wedding per weekend (about twenty a year). While his main clients are affluent types who can pay up to $2,000 for a single centerpiece, he’ll also work with brides on a budget.
