Profile
Jane Packer does not like fussy looking arrangements, so when she opened her first shop in London circa 1982, she ushered in a new style that was boldly monochromatic. A fan of texture, Packer seeks out exotic flowers then arranges them instinctively; all flowers are shipped from Holland twice a week and styled with her “pared-down” signature look. She brought her business to the U.S. in 2002 through a partnership with the Terence Conran Shop. A few years later, she moved down the street to this long, narrow shop where she stocks $100 to $150 arrangements and teaches her hand-tied arrangement style via in-store classes—many held in the charming courtyard out back. A collection of sophisticated vases, home décor items, and Packer’s coffee-table books are also on offer.
Wedding PlannerA floral designer in Britain starting in 1982 (she did Fergie’s royal wedding), this trendsetter brought her unpretentious approach Stateside nine years ago. Although Packer is based in England, a Packer-trained designer handles every wedding, taking a sleek approach that means “no twee little flowers.” Centerpieces from $150; bouquets from $100.
