Profile
Precious little foot traffic filters through the doors of this Hell’s Kitchen floral design studio, but word of mouth keeps it buzzing. With a 90:10 ratio of event to personal flower business, Stonekelly is a romantic’s centerpiece mecca. Their bursting, painterly arrangements are as apt to turn heads at your wedding as inspire friendly competition for tabletop souvenirs among guests at your nephew’s bar mitzvah. Far from color-shy, the shop bucks the monochromatic trend with arrangements of myriad hues, blossoms, berries, and foliage; they also produce gorgeous, lushly simple, ribbon-wrapped bouquets and tabletop adornments that drips elegant cool. Owners Jen Stone and Marco Olmi frequent the 28th Street flower market, where stems and branches are imported from Holland, South America and, increasingly, Australia. The shop is low on glitz—be prepared to step over a few splatterings of water and some stray trimmings if you plan a visit—devoting its energies instead to the craft of creating art from flowers.
Wedding PlanningDesigners Jennifer Stone and Marco Olmi were pioneers in removing filler from arrangements. Their vibrant bouquets are packed with seasonal blooms of hydrangeas, roses, and berries. Centerpieces from $200; bouquets from $175.
