When financial analyst Connor McLaughlin, 36, and Dolce Vita sales rep Yvette Fiore, 35, found themselves at neighboring tables outside the West Village bistro Bar Six, they struck up a conversation that lasted through two drinks and dinner, then dessert in the East Village and a 3 a.m. stroll down Second Avenue. “It was a night I didn’t want to end,” says Yvette. Two years later, the night before Connor planned to propose in the Hamptons, he found a travel article Yvette had left open on the couple’s computer. It profiled Annecy, France, the town where he had secretly imagined proposing since visiting as a college sophomore. Taking the coincidence as a sign, Connor cancelled his original plan, booked the airline tickets that night, and proposed a week later on a lakeside dock at the base of the French Alps in Annecy. They married the following September at Mulford Farm in East Hampton. Lanterns lit the rustic barn, and the buffet featured food from their favorite New York City haunts like Cafe Mogador and Veselka. “I wanted it to feel relaxed, like we were hanging out on a warm fall evening,” says Yvette.
