A former Clairol color director, Robinson caters to celebs such as Michelle Williams and Emma Stone. Updos with various stylists from $100.

Melville Pipino Salon

Celebrity stylists Ric Pipino and Patrick Melville teamed up in 2013 to open this opulent salon. Trials are from $250, and haircuts are $296 with Pipino (book eight weeks in advance).

Once Upon a Bride Hair and Makeup

Specializing in modern, romantic styling and natural-looking airbrush makeup, these stylists try a variety of looks during each two-and-a-half-hour consultation (from $150). On-site prices from $325 to $650.

Oscar Blandi Salon

This breezy salon is a favorite among celebs such as Robin Wright and Mariah Carey. On-site styling starts at $1,500, with updos for $300 and blowouts from $175 for the bridesmaids.

Paul LaBrecque Salon & Spa

This salon and spa is a safe bet for any style of hair, makeup, and nails. Day-of hair starts at $150, makeup at $150, and manicures at $35. On-site styling costs an additional $100 an hour.

Paul Podlucky

An in-demand hair-and-makeup artist, Podlucky specializes in natural, simple styles. (Celebrities such as Aerin Lauder, Marianne Williamson, and Carolyn Murphy adore him.) Trials are $1,500 for multiple looks. Day-of styling for bride plus one is $5,000.

Riccardo Maggiore

The staff at this Vidal Sassoon protégé’s salon will photograph trials ($150 to $500) so you and your entourage can assess various looks before committing. Day-of styling runs from $250 to $500.

Ringo's Salon

Ringo Yip’s Lower East Side salon is a go-to spot for soft styles and relaxed updos (brides from $500, bridesmaids from $100). Yip travels within Manhattan at no additional charge.

Sally Hershberger Downtown

The stylists at this mecca can create edgy or ethereal looks. James Vides and Matt Fugate are in particular demand, and Edgar Parra’s artful blowout is perfect for the downtown bride. Trials start at $200 for one hairstyle, in-salon day-of styling at $250, and coloring at $150. On-site prices upon request.

Salon AKS

Founded by Frédéric Fekkai defectors, A.K.S. has a following among well-heeled fashion types. Makeup and hair trials start at $170 and $150 each, day-of in-salon hair from $265; makeup sessions start at $210.

Salon Riz

Beloved among his Upper West Side clientele, Riz has a way of coaxing the best out of all hair types. He creates updos based on a bride’s vision. Trials are $100; day-of on-site styling starts at $95 for a blowout or $350 for an updo. (good value)

Salon Ruggeri

The antidote to the stainless-steel blowout bar, Gregorio Ruggeri’s parlorlike salon features sky-high ceilings and five styling chairs. Hair and makeup trials are $150 each; they are also $150 each for day-of in-salon styling.

Ted Gibson

The pros here excel at beautiful updos and hairpiece work. Yelena Kogay-Won and Linzee Katzman are the salon’s most sought-after wedding stylists. Trials start at $250; in-salon styling starts at $500; on-site for the bride plus two starts at $1,250.

Valery Joseph Salon

Sophisticated updos and extensions are among the popular services at this salon chain. Prices start at $300 for on-site bridal styling. Brow master Sofia Mordukhiev also has a nook here.

Varin Salon

Owner Yann Varin understands the architecture of updos and is a master of creating soft-looking hairdos that are fresh even at day’s end. His team has styled models for both Carolina Herrera’s and Oscar de la Renta’s bridal shows. Trials are $150 per hour, and in-salon styling for the bride starts at $300; makeup is from $250. On-site services and packages are also available.

Warren-Tricomi

At these decadent outposts, brides can get cut, colored, and styled in one fell swoop. A trial hair session includes two looks; on-site services, including makeup, manicures, and eyebrow shaping, are also available. Prices upon request.
