Looks for Less
Knockoff venues? Not really. But close.
Like The University Club? Try:
NEW-YORK HISTORICAL SOCIETY
“They both have a grand foyer, stone and marble details, and high ceilings,” says planner Francesca Abbracciamento. “But you have to bring in a caterer at N-YHS, while the University Club has one in-house.”
Like The Empire Room at the Waldorf-Astoria? Try:
3 WEST CLUB
“Both have an old-world feel, high ceilings, chandeliers, and ornate molding,” says planner Jennifer Brisman. “But the Waldorf takes up a city block; 3 West is more like a brownstone.”
Like Tribeca Rooftop? Try:
MANHATTAN PENTHOUSE
Both have clean lines, lots of windows, spectacular views, and, you guessed it, high ceilings. “They’re like lofts, but with furniture and in-house catering,” says planner JoAnn Gregoli. “Tribeca has an outdoor space, however, while Penthouse does not.”
