There are other sports bars, like Nevada Smith’s (“Where football is religion!”), that attract rowdy soccer fans for early-morning matches live from the Continent. But if you can’t stomach the thought (or smell) of a dingy dive at eight in the morning, there’s Woodwork, a month-old bar that marries the usual footie atmosphere with Brooklyn’s ever-spreading barnyard-chic aesthetic. Along with the three 50-inch HDTVs constantly tuned to soccer, there’s an enormous oak bar made of floorboards salvaged from a Massachusetts dairy farm, a long list of international beers, and a menu filled with grass-fed meats and locally farmed produce. That smell wafting from the kitchen on match-day mornings? Waffles with Nutella and Balthazar sticky buns.
