You’re not a kid anymore, and a party at your place means more than a keg and a wastebasket full of ice. Next time, take being a grown-up seriously and call John Reginald Sullivan’s The Butler Did It. Sullivan supplies parties with everyone from bartenders to tap-dancing waiters and opera-singing maître d’s (the latter aren’t recommended for tiny apartments, though he does suggest a maître d’ if you’re having more than 50 guests). The least costly staff are coat checkers and junior waiters, at $25 per hour; senior waiters and bartenders are $35 and up; and a maître d’ or chef is $50 an hour. (The minimum is five hours per fête plus car fare after midnight and tips.) He’ll dress his staff in anything from oxford shirts to classic tuxes.
