Seven years of bad luck doesn’t even begin to describe the horror of cracking your recently deceased grandmother’s antique hand mirror. Luckily the Spanish Harlem repair shop Sundial Schwartz can restore mirrors to nearly new condition. Bring in a piece of the damaged mirror, and the store’s craftsmen will reproduce it using new glass and some antiquing tricks like silvering and spotting. From compacts to dressing-room mirrors, size doesn’t matter; as long as they can get it into their elevator, they’ll work on it. Prices are reasonable at $26 per square foot (three feet minimum) for antiquing and $11 per square foot for cutting new quarter-inch glass.
