Unlike some dizzyingly potent candles, Cire Trudon’s slow-burners actually sooth olfactory nerves. Inside the seventeenth-century brand’s Versailles-inspired stucco store, glass candles come in three sizes—mini ($50), standard ($75), and triple-wicked (guaranteed to burn for 400 hours; $375)—and eighteen scents, from smoky musks (Empire) to lighter scents (Roi Soleil). Recently reincarnated by Parisian perfumer Ramdane Touhani, the line includes a new breed of smell emitters: Cire’s “stink bombs” ($41)—small, exploding vials of lovely scent.
