  Who says a chain store can’t be charming? West Elm’s premiere offshoot—a concrete-floored, exposed-beamed wonderland of everyday home goods—stocks myriad local brands across its four departments: Kitchen, Garden, Care and Repair, and Personal Care. An errand run might result in laundry detergent by Williamsburg’s Common Good ($25), a saucepan from Brooklyn Cooper Cookware ($259), “Brooklyn Blend” organic potting soil ($14), or a handcrafted, lacquered-wood duster from the nonprofit New York City Industries for the Blind ($14). There’s also an in-store café serving La Colombe drip coffee and regular events like ­expert-led cooking and gardening classes.
