                          Haru

The fourth, funkiest Manhattan branch of Haru, the Benihana-owned
chainlet, opens this week on the hallowed sushi ground last occupied by Shinbashi.
Haru means "spring" in Japanese, and the design theme is man-made nature, from the
digital-photomural-of-grass floor to the robotic fish in the aquariums over the bar. An
extensive menu features all the usual sushi and sashimi suspects, and a raw bar, plus
fusion fare like the New York strip steak with wasabi croquette, spicy shallots, and
ginger sauce.
