Selita Ebanks Looks Very Warm and Fuzzy

Selita EbanksPhoto: Dario Cantatore/Getty Images

Model Selita Ebanks hosted a charity event for the Costa Verde International School last night in New York, where she wore a dress by Rebecca Taylor and a fur vest by Diane Von Furstenberg. She accessorized with a Diane Von Furstenberg clutch and T-strap Fendi heels.

The furry vest looks mighty snuggly, but is it too much with the bright magenta dress?

Some Crazy Nail Art by Sophie Harris of The Illustrated Nail

"Oh my God, I want to do something tribal … but look at these half-moon designs, and the mod Mondrian mod ones!" exclaimed a particularly excited attendee at Seagull Salon, where British nail artist Sophie Harris made an appearance earlier this week. Harris has a loyal following on her blog, the Illustrated Nail, which chronicles her elaborate nail artwork for the likes of M.I.A., and she gamely painted dozens of eager attendees' nails with designs like antique lace, filigree, and polka dots. We chatted with the guests about their polish choices.

The Netherlands May Be Getting Its Own Vogue Next Year

Dutch newspaper Het Parool reports that a trial issue of Vogue Netherlands is already being printed. A translated version of the article names Karin Swerink, the current editor of Dutch Glamour, as the most likely potential editor. Says Swerink in the article: "Who wouldn't want that? But it's not official yet, so I can't confirm anything." She was probably just holding out so she could skip the awkward Vogue group picture. [TFS via Racked]

Babyoncé Is a Girl, Kelly Rowland Says

Babyoncé is a girl, Kelly Rowland confirmed, presumably accidentally. At an awards ceremony in London last night, Rowland went with female pronouns when chatting with a European news agency about the gestating Beyby. This makes the naming pool that much more interesting! Place your bets now. "Jay is going to buy that little girl every single thing possible," Rowland said. "She won't be spoiled, but she will be very well looked-after." Rowland also told Us Weekly that the most important spawn of our time will be "very well behaved" because "her parents will make sure of that." It's easy to be well behaved when you are the coolest baby on the planet. [Us, Bang Showbiz]

Forever 21 Is in Trouble for Making ‘Navajo’ Panties, Too

The panty in question.

Never ones to shy away from a perfectly good copyright-infringement lawsuit, Forever 21 is now selling their very own version of Navajo panties, despite the backlash against Urban Outfitters when they did the same thing a few weeks ago. (After receiving a cease-and-desist letter from the Navajo Nation Department of Justice, Urban Outfitters quickly removed all "Navajo" titled items from their website.) For whatever it's worth, Forever 21's version has pink lace on it. Maybe they'll knock off Anthropologie's rickshaw next.

Did You Give Project Accessory a Second Shot Last Night?

After its debut last week, Project Accessory's second episode aired last night on Lifetime. The second challenge saw the contestants making shoes and jewelry to accompany a Swarovski piece they'd chosen as inspiration. (Not surprisingly, James, the contestant with the most shoe-making experience, won.) With most of the designers too busy working to ham it up for the cameras — and with the judging panel still struggling to gel as a group — it was left to Nicolina and her many meltdowns to carry the episode. Here's a video of her histrionics this week:

What Were All the International Vogue Editors Thinking During Their Group Photo Last Night?

Don't look so excited, ladies.Photo: Frederic Aranda for Vogue.

All the international Vogue editors gathered together in Japan this week for the country's first-ever Fashion's Night Out. To prove it really happened, they took a carefully posed group photo (with Anna Wintour, Emmanuelle Alt, and Alexandra Shulman front and center, obviously). From left to right: Yolanda Sacristan, Spain (seated); Kirstie Clements, Australia (middle); Anaita Adajania, India (back); Christiane Arp, Germany (seated); Angelica Cheung, China (standing); Franca Sozzani, Italy (seated); Mitsuko Watanabe, Japan (standing); Anna Wintour, U.S. (seated); Emmanuelle Alt, France (reclining); Alexandra Shulman, U.K. (seated); Victoria Davydova, Russia (standing); Anna Harvey, representing Brazil and Greece (seated); Seda Domanic, Turkey (seated); Myung Hee Lee, Korea (seated); Rosalie Huang,Taiwan (standing); Eva Hughes, Mexico and Latin America (standing), and Paula Mateus, Portugal (seated).

We certainly know what Turkey's Seda Domanic was thinking: "Of course that note about the purple dress code was a joke! Blast, this floor is uncomfortable." But what do you think was going through everyone's heads? Let us know in the comments.

Abercrombie & Fitch’s European Expansion Isn’t Going So Well

Not European.

Abercrombie and Fitch talked a big game leading into their European expansion this year, opening a fleet of new stores and even unleashing a parade of buff, shirtless men on the Champs-Élysées to promote their Paris flagship opening. The retailer then raised prices at the end of the summer, presumably not anticipating the European debt crisis. (Or maybe they did, and figured Europeans would be clamoring for some nice branded hoodies to cower in.) Regardless, Abercrombie's shares fell 20 percent yesterday, which analysts attribute to trouble overseas; meanwhile, the Post says that comparable sales at their European stores are dropping. Reports the paper:

“Abercrombie registered results that put their entire international growth story in question,” Eric Beder, an analyst at Brean Murray Carret & Co., said yesterday.

Surprisingly (and unfortunately), Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino hasn't tweeted about this yet.

More Breathless Speculation That Kate Middleton Is Pregnant

Kate Middleton.

While visiting a UNICEF facility in Denmark earlier this week, Kate Middleton "politely refused" to sample a peanut paste that's sent out in UNICEF's famine aid packages. Us Weekly reports she even gave Prince William "a knowing look" when he offered her the snack. This can only mean ONE THING: Kate's obviously pregnant, because apparently some doctors recommend that pregnant women avoid peanuts to help prevent their babies from getting allergies. (Just to cover all our bases, a palace spokesperson said that Kate isn't allergic to nuts herself, so that's no excuse.) So that's settled. Now, if Kate has a boy, he can date with Babyoncé in a few years.

Daphne Guinness’s First Book Won’t Be About Beetles

At F.I.T.'s symposium for "Fashion Icons and Insiders" this week, Daphne Guinness told WWD she's hard at work finishing her first novel. "Writing is a funny thing. It’s not like you’re working on a schedule. It comes in fits and starts. It will be ready when it’s ready. I’ve just got to get it right so that it will be as good as it can be.” Regarding the book's subject: “Well, it’s not about beetles.” (Potentially a Kafka reference?) She continued, “It will be about what I’ve observed or imagined. Frankly, I’m not Winston Churchill or another public figure. I don’t think anyone would be particularly interested in my observations.” [WWD]

Tom Ford Is Dressing Daniel Craig in the New James Bond Movie

And lots of attractive women will no doubt be undressing Daniel Craig in the movie, as is the James Bond tradition. At Craig's request, Tom Ford will provide all of Bond's wardrobe for the new film, Skyfall, just as he did for Quantum of Solace. The Telegraph reports that all garments will be handmade in Italy, because a spy deserves nothing less. [Telegraph UK]

Pippa Middleton’s Rumored Party-Planning Book Has the British Press Up in Arms

Pippa Middleton.

According to recent — and totally unconfirmed — rumors, Pippa Middleton is in talks to sit her famous rear down in front of a computer to write a book of party-planning tips. (Or maybe she'd prefer sitting down over coffee with a ghost writer. Who knows?) Though her experience working for Party Pieces, the Middleton family business, would arguably give her some helpful insights to share, British newspapers think the very possibility of this book is a terrible idea. The royal family is notoriously prickly when it comes to the co-option of their "brand," and it would be considered uncouth for Pippa to "cash in" on her new status. Both the Daily Mail and the Guardian ran "scathing parodies" of Pippa's book, replete with satire, references to Prince Harry, and silly candid photos of Pippa in costume. Clearly, it's much better, in the eyes of the press, for Pippa to just be photographed walking to and from work than to actually be caught working.

Snooki’s Fragrance Is Serious Business

Snooki.

Though four seasons' worth of Jersey Shore madness would suggest otherwise, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi would quite like to be taken seriously (sometimes, that is). So she had her business-lady hat on extensions in for the launch of her first fragrance yesterday, which meant (a bit disappointingly) that we saw less of Snooki and more of Nicole during her presentation.

The perfume is for "any age, from 13 to 80 year-olds." »

Slideshow: The Week in Style Blogs

After our freak snowstorm in New York last weekend, it's officially scarf-and-jacket season here, but we can live vicariously through photos of warmer days and sunnier climates. Case in point: this photo of Inès de la Fressange with her trademark rolled-up shirtsleeves, captured in Paris by Easy Fashion Paris. For those in need of some cold-weather dressing inspiration, there's also lots of that, too, particularly Rebecca's snuggly scarf on The Clothes Horse and Terence Koh's white puffy jacket on Pop Bop & Snap. Have a warm weekend!

Exclusive Video: Tomas Maier Explains Bottega Veneta’s New Ad Campaign

Set to new-agey trance music, Bottega Veneta's new behind-the-scenes video features Tomas Maier giving an account of his collaboration with Brazilian photographer Mona Kuhn for the label's new resort 2012 ad campaign. Maier makes a point to work with different photographers for each campaign; previous collaborators include Steven Meisel, Annie Leibovitz, and Lord Snowdon. He chose Kuhn, who's known for her nude portraits, to shoot Kasia Struss alongside two shirtless models on the rooftop of the New Museum in New York last May.
