Profile
A Chelsea favorite exhibiting risky emerging artists, this gallery is the baby of Zach Feuer, who began curating shows in his Boston home at the age of 19. (Feuer has joked that he couldn't legally drink at his own openings.) The precocious curator is also on the board of the New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA), created to encourage a greater spirit of collaboration between galleries. Zach Feuer Gallery represents breakout young painter Dana Schutz, who combined a deceptively "primitive" style with a flair for narrative in her series of images of Frank, the Last Man on Earth. Other Zach painters worth watching include Jules de Balincourt whose works have the epic composition of Japanese prints while depicting scenes that might best be described as on-Curtain-meets-Blade Runner.
