Profile
In the early part of the 20th century, the site of this gargantuan athletic multiplex along the Hudson River was the main passageway of imports and exports and a leading passenger terminal (in fact, it was where the doomed Titanic was to conclude its Atlantic voyage). After years of planning and construction, in 1995 the preserved waterfront property was transformed into an impressive 28-acre athletic and entertainment oasis spanning five blocks. Now it’s virtually the only place where athletic Manhattanites get the opportunity to practice their golf swings or rock climb an enormous wall in the same location. The massive complex houses activities for every season, with facilities that include ice-skating rinks, a gymnastics training center, basketball courts, a sand volleyball court, a 25-yard swimming pool, a boxing ring, batting cages, indoor rock climbing wall, cafes, a bowling alley, and a spa to sooth tired muscles.
Summer Ice SkatingThe rate for ice-skating is reduced on Sundays during the summer. From 1:00 p.m.— 3:50 p.m. admission prices are $7 for kids and $10 for adults. Skate rental is free.
