Profile
Co-owners (and brothers) Ben and Mike Wiley didn’t splurge on the redesign when converting the former Bar Bar into Bar Great Harry, choosing instead to stake their joint’s reputation on excellent beer options. And it works: A list boasting 70 bottles, usually one cask, and a carefully selected draft roll—twenty strong and updated at least a few times a week (check the bar's blog)—means one can spend all day inside the dark-red walls of the boxy room sampling the goods. Often, one does: On any given weekend afternoon, Smith Street’s grup contingent rears its head, meaning couples grouped together around the wooden tables and long bench, tugging on a leash in one hand and passing a Belgian import over their doodling kid’s head with the other. The very capable barkeeps behave like master sommeliers; throw out your preferences, and they'll direct you towards a delicious brew you never knew you loved.
