Profile
Situated on the less commercial Sixth Avenue among rows of brownstones in the heart of the Slope, this quaint bar is the neighborhood’s nod to the quintessential New York pub of yesteryear: exposed brick walls, pressed tin ceilings, deep wooden booths, a highly-perched TV silently exhibiting some sporting event and various chalkboards heralding food and beer specials. Dramatic floor-to-ceiling doors open out onto the front patio where Slopers dine and imbibe at green picnic tables. (It’s not unusual to see kids snacking on grilled cheese and chicken fingers while their parents chug down a few brews with deep-fried nosh). Much to the chagrin of the locals, the Ale House does not brew their own beers as the former occupant (Park Slope Brewery) did. The compensation is an impressive list of twenty draft beers, many of which change seasonally.
