Profile
Founded in 1932, this classic barbershop was financed by J.P. Morgan, who once lived on the 31st floor of the same building. Most of the current clientele are men from the New York Stock Exchange across the street or from nearby high-profile finance firms. Given its history, the shop’s interior is surprisingly modest—just eight chairs set against faux-wood paneling accented with emerald green. Clearly the service, not the décor, attracts return customers. The most popular treatment is a standard barber shave, which uses products by English line Truefitt + Hill. Manicures, pedicures, shoe shines, cuts, and massages are also on the menu, along with hair-removal services. For those in need of a quick freshen-up before their next meeting, the Simultaneous Service allows clients to receive all their chosen treatments at the same time by a team of speedy therapists. Complementary beer or Scotch sure make you feel like a million bucks.
