Profile
When this hotel first opened under the name 60 Thompson back in 2001, it was ahead of the pack, from boasting one of the first rooftop bars in Soho to drawing the creative set to what was then a still-emerging part of the city. In 2014, the team behind the hotel (and other Thompson properties) relaunched 60 Thompson under the Sixty brand. This flagship got a new name, Sixty Soho, and a multimillion-dollar renovation. Today, the 97 rooms include suites with balconies and spacious living rooms as well as one duplex loft with an expansive private roof deck and a loft suite with a 180-degree-views terrace, soaking tub, and fireplace. The rooms feature a residential-style design with timber floors and blinds, caramel leather and blue velvet furniture, bespoke bar cabinets, and mohair accents, along with commissioned artwork from London-based artist Harland Miller. The public areas were also overhauled and now boast a wide array of noteworthy art and photography from Ryan McGinley, Mark Flood, Greer Patterson, Will Cotton, Nikolas Gambaroff, William Klein, and others, with many pieces sourced from one of the owners’ personal collection. At the Sessanta restaurant, Chef Paul DiBari serves reinterpreted Italian classics in a casual, mid-century-inspired setting, while the sophisticated lobby Gordon Bar is the place for snacks and drinks. The A60 rooftop lounge is still a haven for panoramic views and alfresco drinks — though it’s only open to hotel guests, VIP members, and private parties. There’s no on-site spa, but in-room massages and beauty services can be arranged via the concierge.
Pros
Residential neighborhood location, popular on-site bars and restaurants, guest have access to panoramic rooftop lounge, comfortable rooms, friendly service
Cons
Small cardio room (no full gym), no spa, no business center or conference rooms (the bar and rooftop can be booked for meetings and events)
