Profile

Built in 1928, the Beekman Tower Hotel is an historical landmark that rises prominently over the East River in one of Manhattan’s most exclusive neighborhoods. Just steps from the United Nations, the Beekman hosts foreign dignitaries as well as leisure travelers in search of an upscale, out-of-the-way experience. The lobby may be small, but the suites are spacious—each has a full kitchenette, most have a sitting room—and the amenities range from complimentary secretarial services to laundry. There is a ballroom and restaurant, and the front desk has a reputation for being one of the friendliest in town. The crown jewel of the Beekman Tower is the renowned Top of the Tower restaurant, providing dramatic 360-degree views of the city. Kofi Annan sightings not guaranteed.

Pros

The rooftop piano bar, Top of the Tower, with views, cocktails, and entertainment.

Cons
Aside from the United Nations, there's not much within walking distance—including a subway.
