Profile
When it comes to New York hotels, location is everything. And sometimes staying just outside of the epicenter of hectic Manhattan carries the most appeal. Such is the case at the Bentley Hotel, a former high-rise office building that's been converted into a beacon of contemporary and surprisingly comfortable style. Think bright lights, boxy leather sofas and brushed-steel side tables. The hotel is located off the FDR Drive and features 197 rooms of varying sizes, almost all of which are decorated in that omnipresent brown-and-cream contemporary color scheme. The blackout shades on the windows are highly useful, as the stunning view of the East River brings with it piercing sunlight in the mornings.
ProsPerfect for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path retreat without sacrificing Downtown style.
Cons
Everything is three shades of brown, and it's a long trek to the subway.
