Profile
For those in search of the familiar and dependable—albeit mundane— there is always the Holiday Inn Downtown. The cookie-cutter white rooms are much like the hundreds of others in the Holiday Inn chain, and come comparably equipped with the essential amenities, including cable TV, AM/FM CD alarm clock, a phone with data ports and WiFi. Downstairs there's a small bar, a coffee shop, and a restaurant with American fare, all of which are mostly forgettable. Guests with sticker shock at the lofty nightly rates should note that they're paying for location, not comfort. But since the more colorful Soho, Greenwich Village, Tribeca, and Chinatown neighborhoods are all nearby, chances are most guests aren't hanging out here anyway.
ProsIn the end, it doesn't matter if the hotel’s dull. With a location like this, why stay indoors?
Cons
Cheaper rooms that are still close to the action can be found elsewhere.
