Profile

Once the humble Park Town coffee shop, Dizzy’s took over and revamped this corner restaurant in 1998. The upgrade retained some of the original elements—the melamite letters from the old Park Town sign, the regulars leafing through the morning papers—while adding a thrift store, café feel with makeshift seating and kitschy knick- knacks. Calling itself a "finer diner," it offers upscale American chow like Salisbury steak. Finer also means pricier, and some may balk at the $12.50 cheeseburger. Three steps from the F train entrance and one block from Prospect Park, it’s a popular spot to pick up coffee and egg sandwiches on the way to work. And since Park Slope suffers from a dearth of truly good brunch spots, it’s a madhouse on the weekends, but the wait staff is relentlessly friendly and prepared to handle the chaos.
