Profile

This narrow menswear boutique pairs dapper vintage duds with new apparel and accessories from obscure young designers. The brick-walled, dimly lit space was conceived by Greg Armas (formerly of the similarly rustic L.A. menswear shop Scout), who peppers his shop with eclectic accents like a chirping, caged parakeet and a stack of 1930s-era quilts. The featured designers are mainly Californian and European, including store-exclusives like Raquel Allegra’s preprocessed and hand-shredded tees and scarves made of recycled shirts from Los Angeles County jails. Vintage cowboy boots, lace-up boots, and dress shoes in polished blacks, weather-beaten tans, and chocolate browns border the perimeter of the floor, and textured, tailored clothing hangs above. Denim from Them, knee-length jackets from 0044, graphic tees from Raquel Allegra, and pullovers from Risto Bimbiloski are mixed together on the racks. Miscellaneous accessories border the register including LGR eyewear, earrings, and vintage beads from North Africa.

Greg Armas’s impeccably curated Lower East Side shop stocks an unparalleled selection of vintage shoes and hard-to-find designer labels. Laid-back grooms can find C. Chauchat ties (from $164) and Chronicles of Never textured-leather ankle boots (from $217) nestled among the selection of heritage workwear and edgy blazers.
