Profile
Owners Eva and Dayton Gentry aren’t seduced by whatever extravagant, impractical trends happen to be hot each season. Instead, they stick with classic, unassuming garments like loose fitting blouses and slacks in varying shades of gray, black, brown and white. (Bright, crisp, primary colors—or anything overly busy or provocative, for that matter—are nowhere to be found.) And while such pieces may not turn heads, they won’t raise eyebrows either. Even springtime, which for most is an excuse for pastel tank tops and flowery dresses, means a shipment of off-white and navy blue. Only one size is displayed (with other sizes in stock); on the cleverly unorganized racks, swimsuits are sprinkled in with sweater dresses while jackets and jeans are likely to share adjacent space. This refreshing approach makes you feel as though you’re raiding a particularly fashionable friend’s closet instead of rifling through a department store rack. Remember: That sea of neutrals is a timeless one. You could easily wear those Rogan jeans or Marni shoes for years to come.
