Profile
Located among the horde of vintage shops dotting the Lower East Side, Fox & Fawn distinguishes itself by stocking sought-after designer brands for relatively low prices. Opened in 2007 by a pair of vintage-savvy Lower East Side locals, the small, tucked-away shop buys, sells, and trades for apparel like linen jumpers, Betsy Johnson dresses, men’s YSL and Balenciaga button-ups, and Comme des Garçons tees, much of it compiled during the owner’s West Coast excursions. The store has a comfortable, lived-in vibe, with creaky wooden floors, framed art from local artists adorning the walls, and open space in the center for monthly art shows, concerts, and booze-fueled neighborhood parties. The well-edited apparel is replenished sporadically from vintage enthusiasts who stop in to sell or swap. The real lure, however, is the impressive collection of designer shoes displayed on built-in bookshelves, including Marc Jacobs platform wedges, Charlotte Ronson and Michael Kors sandals, and pumps from Manolo Blahnik and Yves Saint Laurent, most for under $100.
