Profile
Some 30 brands of South American, European, and American swimwear and lingerie pack this little Upper East Side shop. Iranian-born Shahlla Azizian opened the store in 1979, offering tankinis, thongs, bikinis, one-pieces, and more daring items like thong bikini bottoms from a wide range of designer brands such as Beach Bunny Swim, Elizabeth Hurley, and Zoe. The selection of lingerie comes from popular labels like La Perla and Cosabella. Few accessories are available apart from flip-flops and an especially large selection of breast enhancers, including cleavage cupcakes, “low beam” stick-on nipples, and gel bra inserts. In 2007, Azizian’s daughter, Teresa, opened up Pesca Trend around the corner on Second Avenue, a similarly pint-size store that carries women’s clothing in addition to swimwear and lingerie.
