Robot enthusiast David Greenbaum likes to bike around the city once in a while, especially when he’s joined by 555, a bike-riding robot buddy of his own invention. Greenbaum grew up building things with his dad, and later designed toys and games before moving into robot territory, which he believes will be the next big thing in the technological world. In 2004, he opened Robot Village, a center for all things robotic, from entertainment products to educational projects. There are after-school and weekend workshops during which children ages 8 to 12 build and battle robots in team-based competitions and learn about electricity and locomotion. The store also offers evening classes for adults, as well as a drop-in-friendly Bot-Building Station—a sort of ceramics studio with circuits.
