Profile
Steven Alan’s fine-tuned selection of the coolest downtown threads means that women can breeze through this wisp of a store without missing the latest from established labels like Earnest Sewn, 3.1 phillip lim, and United Bamboo. But you also might find your new favorite label lurking atop their shelves, as lesser-known wares—like cozy Demy Lee sweaters and flirty Sunshine & Shadow skirts—get top billing here, too. And of course, there’s Alan’s namesake line of reverse-seam button-downs in fun, colorful plaids. For men, there’s a heavy supply of Wings & Horn hoodies, known for their slim silhouette—all the better to hang on lanky model types who flock to the store. And though the focus is on clothes, there are some great antique jewelry finds, like restored Rolex watches and shimmering cocktail rings.
GroomsNative New Yorker Alan’s menswear collection caters to grooms looking for edgier versions of traditional garb. He is best known for his cotton and silk skinny ties that come in an array of bold prints and patterns, but he also does low-key, heritage-inspired shirting and handsome suits. (The Holiday Haywood suit jacket is $385; matching pants are $235.)
