Profile
Streetwear boutique Brooklyn Circus caters to a trendy Boerum Hill clientele, stocking graphic tees, military-inspired basics, sharp outerwear, and vintage accessories evoking the thirties and forties. BKc moved down the block to a new corner space in August 2008, tripling its size and adding women’s clothing to the mix of menswear and accessories. The store is stylishly decked with antique furniture, dark-wood floors, and a large black chandelier dangling overhead. The focus is on the BKc in-house label—heavy, dark denim, artsy T-shirts, slouchy polos, and button-downs—but a selection of casual separates can be found, from brands like Cheap Monday, J. Lindberg, and Nudie Jeans. The eponymous label is stamped on housewares and accessories as well, with a collaborative line of locally made BKc + Joya votive candles, chunky watches, and preppy, letterman-inspired duffels. But the best sellers are scripted T-shirts bearing the BKc logo, often paired with a dapper blazer or trench by J. Lindberg.
Men's AccessoriesFounded by graphic designer Ouigi Theodore, this shop stocks classic clothes with antique motifs and urban accents, like leather laceless wingtips ($280) and chambray skinny ties ($40). Grooms will appreciate the reasonably priced collection of vintage pocket squares ($25).
