Profile
The folks at UrbanGlass work very hard to “engender a public appreciation of glass.” Though primarily a working studio, their street level Agnes Varis Art Center includes a gallery and a store that carries the work of some of the artists who slave over the on-site furnaces and sandblasters. Their pieces include things you would expect to find made of glass (goblets, vases, plates, bowls) and some you might not, like bangle bracelets, some of which are colorfully decorated, and all of which are meticulously crafted. To get inspired, shoppers can take a free tour of the 17,000 square foot studio on Saturday afternoons, offering a full view of the artists hard at work glassblowing, flameworking, fusing, and kiln casting.
