Ticking Along

Sisters Grace and Amy Szuwala have been in the watch-repair business since 1978. “In the beginning, people were skeptical because they thought we were too young,” remembers Grace, now 43. “They wanted to know where the repairmen were.” For the record, there are no men at Time Pieces, just hundreds of antique watches and clocks for sale (prices range from $200 for a Bulova to $7,000 for a forties Patek Philippe). The ladies, who learned their craft in Poland, will also repair everything from wristwatches to grandfather clocks (house calls start at $150). Simple repairs are done overnight; complete overhauls take about two weeks. 115 Greenwich Avenue (212-929-8011).
