261 Fifth Ave., between 1st St. and Garfield St.
718-499-9888

Pizza/Italian
La Villa Pizzeria has given Two Boots a swift kick to the curb as the Slope's premier pizza joint. And rightfully so: Not only can you choose from around 15 thin-crust recipes, but there are also several options for size and pie type like "Grandma's Pizza" (thick Sicilian with crushed San Marzano tomatoes, basil and garlic, $23 for large), the "Upside Down" (layers of mozzarella baked under the sauce, $21 for large square), or the "Deep Dish Vegetali" (broccoli, spinach, roasted peppers and mushrooms, $9 for small). No matter when you call, the staff is always friendly and willing to accommodate all types of substitutions. And if you find yourself in the middle of Prospect Park with a hankering for a pie or their fabulous Penne Gamberi (pasta with gulf shrimp, fresh broccoli, basil, tomato and olive oil, $15), just call with your credit card and location and you'll be dining al fresco in about 25 minutes.

Mango Fusion Thai
52 Seventh Ave., between Lincoln Pl. and St. Johns Pl.
718-638-1652 / 1655

Thai
If you're craving great pad Thai, you'll want to order elsewhere. (Long Tan is your best bet for basics.) But for Thai with a twist, Mango deserves a top spot in your delivery-menu drawer. Start with the Royal Combo Sampler (sa-bai shrimp, chicken satae, corn patties and tulip dumpling; $10) or the addictive Coconut Tom Kha soup with galanga and bell peppers (small, $3; large, $8). Follow up with one of their inventive fusion dishes like the Tamarind Emperor (filet of snapper coated with breadcrumbs on one side, battered and fried on the other, served with crispy spinach and tamarind salsa; $15). Other delights include Mongolian Beef ($9) with brandy, ginger, scallions and fried vermicelli, or the deep-fried Panang Duck ($14) in coconut curry sauce. Be sure to check their website before ordering for monthly discounts and freebies like Thai pudding desserts served in cute soy sauce dishes that make an excellent addition to your china cabinet.

Mekong
259 Fifth Ave., at Garfield Pl.
718-788-1210

Vietnamese
The Brooklyn offshoot of the popular Nolita eatery offers some of the best Vietnamese in Kings County—but at a price. Although $8.95 does seem exorbitant for soup, the pho arrives piping hot, chockful of tender beef slices and vermicelli noodles, and the tamarind hot and sour soup is perfectly seasoned with an entrée-sized portion of salmon or shrimp. You'll get your money's worth on all the traditional favorites: fried spring rolls ($5.95) that are crispy, not greasy; rice paper summer rolls ($6.95) that are firm, not floppy; lemongrass beef ($11.95), shrimp ($13.95), and chicken or pork ($10.95) with a hefty amount of accoutrements (lettuce, mint, sprouts, fish sauce) for wrapping and dipping. For those who prefer more offbeat dishes, the beef tartare ($6.95) with ginger, onions, chili paste and lime dressing is a must-try. One caveat: Order during the week otherwise you'll have to wait for all this greatness…sometimes up to an hour and a half on Fridays and Saturdays.

Los Pollitos II
148 Fifth Ave., at Douglass St.
718-623-9152

Mexican/Latin
An alternative to the multiple "Messy-Can" joints that populate Park Slope, Los Pollitos II serves up buttery burritos ($6-$9.75) with distinguishable choices of meat, shrimp or vegetables and the heartily stocked tortillas miraculously retain their shape and flavor in transit. The succulent rotisserie chickens (quarter chicken: $2.75), half chicken ($3.75), whole chicken ($7.50) are comparable to any spinning South of the Border and the shrimp quesadillas ($7.25) are deliciously rich without being greasy. For those who like kick, the avocado-habanero sauce (the green one in the bottom of the bag) will make your toes curl with delight. And the best part: It all shows up at your door in the time it'll take you to hang up the phone and find your wallet.

Oshima
71 Seventh Ave., between Berkeley Pl. and Lincoln Pl.
718-783-1888

Japanese/Sushi
Despite a bevy of options for sushi delivery in Park Slope, there are many reasons to choose Oshima. The staff couldn't be friendlier when you call, everything arrives in record time, and generous portions of super-fresh fish are presented with the same amount of artistic care as they would be in-house. Oshima really takes care of regulars too, often throwing in free edamame or specialty items like their delicious namesake roll ($11) with white tuna, salmon, tobiko and spicy mayonnaise. Platters range in price from $13 for a sushi regular (seven pieces and a tuna roll) to $28 for a sashimi for two (24 pieces) and all come with tasty miso soup. Less conventional selections include the X-Mas Roll (fried eel, spicy tuna, avocado and tobiko; $14) and the tempura Crazy Roll (egg, scallion, shrimp and whitefish in tempura sauce; $8).

Biscuit
367 Flatbush Ave., at Sterling Pl.
718-398-2227

BBQ/Southern/Soul
While the neighborhood isn't at a loss for down-home Southern eateries, none are as consistently good, fast, and cheap as Biscuit. The pulled pork or chicken ($7 for 6 oz., $12.50 for 12 oz.) can quickly become habit-forming and the double-dipped fried chicken ($14.50 for a whole bird) is a delicious mess of tender meat and crunchy, glistening skin. Two sides come with every main dish—for unadulterated bliss, make it mac-n-cheese and mashed spuds. And even if you don't have room after stuffing yourself, order a slice of Key lime or peanut butter pie ($4)—it will keep in your fridge till you're hungry again.

2nd Street Cafe
189 Seventh Ave., at 2nd St.
718-369-6928

American/Continental
Second Street is perfect for those nights when you and your dinner-mate can't agree on what you're in the mood for. The menu runs the gamut from Asian standards to all-American classics and thankfully gets most of them right. The Thai sesame chicken satay ($7.25) and the Louisiana crab cakes ($8.95) are great starters and come with noteworthy sauces--intensely spicy peanut and a thick, cilantro tartar, respectively. All the salads—goat cheese ($7.75), nicoise ($12.25), lentil ($11.25), roasted-beet ($7.25)—are greenmarket fresh. The black bean chili ($7.95) and quesadilla ($7.25) are hearty and authentic, and the penne with salmon ($11.25) and cheese tortellini ($10.75) are perfectly al dente. In need of some comfort? Behold the power of mac-n-cheese ($9.95) with three kinds of cheddar and a crusty Parmesan top.

CurryShop
381 Fifth Ave., at 6th St.
718-832-7701

Indian
The Brits may be derided for their less-than-appetizing homeland cuisine, but you've gotta give 'em props for getting Indian food right. Englishman Christopher Sell has brought his flavorful recipes Stateside with sauces like rich korma, fiery vindaloo, spicy madras, balti and massala that are paired with your choice of chicken ($9), lamb ($10), shrimp ($11) or vegetable ($8). Start with the zesty Tandoori shrimp salad ($6). You'll swear off 6th St. after tasting the Mulligatawny soup ($4) and Curry Shop's nan ($2) is so warm and soft that it practically melts in your mouth. Another perk: You can combine orders with ChipShop next door.

Middle Eastern/Mediterranean
You'll be hard-pressed to find something on this Middle Eastern/Mediterranean menu that isn't satisfying, and with two area locations they probably deliver to you. The spinach pie ($4) is a meal in itself—calzone-sized, full of fresh mozzarella and leafy spinach. The rich lentil soup ($3) is flavored with caramelized onions and accompanied by a pillowy, fresh-baked pita that's as big as your head. As for the platters, the falafel croquettes ($7) remain crispy despite being drowned in a tart-but-tasty tahini sauce, the grilled chicken ($9.50) is tender, breaded and marinated in lemon, and all are served with green salad, pita, and baba ghanouj or hummus. Other nice touches include fresh-squeezed juices ($2) like kiwi, apple grape, or mango orange and light, flaky baklava ($2) that won't propel you into a sugar coma. Bear in mind that all items are made-to-order, so sometimes it takes up to 45 minutes for delivery.

At Mr. Wonton, even the eponymous dumplings in the soup ($2.20 for a quart) are tasty treats, with spicy pork wrapped in thick skins. The Moo Shus ($6.50-$7.95) are must-haves, loaded with fresh, seasonal vegetables and large, downy pancakes that don't fall apart with the first bite. Other favorites include the shredded beef with Peking sauce ($7.75), the crispy boneless braised duck ($10.95) and the prawns with garlic sauce ($8.75).
