American
Your band has a late rehearsal. You don't want to break to go get food, but the drummer's threatening to quit unless he gets an apple avocado salad, a pack of Marlboro lights, a corona, and a baklava, pronto. At 3 a.m., even the deli's closed, so thank God for Anytime. The joint used to look like an airport lounge-cave, but it's become very swank. Still, this place does the bulk of its business delivering to desperate night owls.

Minimum: $10 delivery minimum for outskirts versus central $8.

Aurora Ristorante
70 Grand St., between Kent and Wythe Aves.
718-388-5100

Italian
There are a million great Italian places in the Eastern part of Williamsburg. Ciao Bella's not bad, and you can always just pick stuff up at Joe's Busy Corner on the way home from the subway, but if you want a really decadent treat, Aurora is it. Each of the ristorante's unusual concoctions, monkfish braised with turnips and celery root puree ($15.95), for example, is more exquisite than the next. And even the wineter salads, of roasted vegetables, spelt, and spinach ($7.95), are fresh and delectable as can be.

Minimum: $15

Salvadoran, Seafood
Warning: The pupusas (cheesy pancakes available with pork, beans, or chicken) at this friendly Salvadoran restaurant are addictive. Of course, at $1.50 apiece, you can afford the habit. Also incredible are the grilled meats and seafood, particularly the "Parrillada de Mariscos," a vast plate of shrimp, salmon, tilapia, calamari, mussels, and baked clams, for just $18.

Minimum: $10

Chai
124 N. 6th St., at Berry St.
718-599-5889/5969

Thai
For a neighborhood teeming with good Thai food, it's hard to pick a favorite. Most locals swear by Planet Thailand, which does a booming takeout trade, although it doesn't deliver. We like this humble corner restaurant, which opened in the fall of 2003, in spite of hipper-than-thou Sea down the block. While Sea might have more impressive ambiance, for takeout purposes Chai is the winner, with fantastic duck, both real and mock ($10), an array of delectable shrimp dishes ($12 to $14), and a million kinds of sake ($7 for a glass; $14 for a carafe).

Minimum: $10
Delivery area: Williamsburg
Hours of delivery: noon - 11 p.m. (Tue. - Sun.)

Take note: Ask about the varying degrees of spiciness; by default, dishes are very hot.

American, Italian, Seafood
Surfer haven Hurricane Hopeful moved in with its yummy Italian neighbor, and it's a match made in heaven. By ordering in, you miss the cozy, sand-floored hut of a restaurant, but where else can you get fresh chowders ($5.50 to $6.50), lobster rolls ($14), and excellent homemade pasta dishes ($9 to $14)? It's also known for its "Dawn Patrol Coffee"($4.95 to $9.95) and shaved ice ($3 to $8) in the summer. The staff even organizes surf trips!
