Turks and Caicos
Bliss out with Donna and Jerry in Parrot Cay

From the March 26, 2001 Issue of New York

Parrot Cay occupies its very own 1,000-acre island, and is one of the most unspoiled links in the Turks and Caicos chain. The pampering begins with a private water taxi from Providenciales (the Turks's main island), which glides over crystal-blue water and intricate coral reefs. Upon arrival, you're shown to a one-bedroom villa outfitted with its own heated pool, a private beach, a four-poster canopy bed, cavernous bathrooms, and an outside shower with a polished stone floor. (The larger, two-bedroom villas come with a pair of butlers.) Given the surroundings -- it's a favorite resort of Jerry Seinfeld, Donna Karan, and Bruce Willis -- you might be afraid you'll feel like the Clampetts of Parrot Cay, but fellow guests are mostly friendly, dressed-down dot-com millionaires or sunburnt British Oasis and Blur lookalikes (minus the loutishness). The service is equally unintimidating: Waiters offer helpful suggestions at mealtimes, requests for everything from CDs to the resort's boat service to Providenciales were efficiently dispatched, room service quickly delivered a lunch of conch fritters (a local specialty), and the masseuses at the Shambhala Spa gently smoothed away the pain of the world.
