Children can be notoriously difficult in the barber’s chair. Thankfully, Snippy’s knows how to keep them happy. At this new children’s hair salon, the cutting stations are modeled after vintage forties and fifties cars—a police cruiser, a fire engine, a pink Cadillac—and each one is equipped with a TV mounted in a cabinet shaped like a gas pump (the hose doubles as a blow-dryer). Owner Tracy Spencer-Wright schedules all appointments at least 30 minutes apart to keep the pace calm. Multitasking moms can slip into the antique barber’s chair in back for a quick trim of their own. Cuts for kids cost $26; for adults, $30 to $45.
