Best Skate Park

  • Millennium Skate Park

Owl’s Head Park, Bay Ridge, Brooklyn

The City of New York—nearly endless square miles of asphalt and concrete and steel—is a skateboard park unto itself. But if you want to throw lipslides and float fat ollies someplace even more exquisitely suited to the sport, try Millennium, just off the Belt Parkway in Bay Ridge. The main draw is a pair of perfect concrete bowls: one shallow and split down the middle by a spine, the other an eight-foot-deep simulacrum of a real swimming pool. “The transitions are nice and mellow, the deep end has pool coping, and it’s good for all levels of skating,” says Jeff Pang, a Brooklyn native and the team manager for Zoo York. Millennium is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Helmets are required, and admission is free.
