There may be better-known bar trivia contests than Last Exit’s, but they have their drawbacks. At Pete’s Candy Store, you may end up pondering questions on the history of the G train; at the Baggot Inn, regulars who look like they’ve been bused in from a Star Trek convention will rack up astronomical scores as you struggle to I.D. the wives of losing nineteenth-century presidential candidates. Then there’s Last Exit, which offers a refreshingly anti-elitist game to artists, lawyers, and lushes of all ages at 9 p.m. every first and third Monday of the month. Teams of four or fewer pay $5 per person for a chance to win the whole pot ($240 last time we went) in ten rounds of five questions each. Topics range from History Channel borrowings to confidence-building pop-culture tidbits. But regulars keep coming back for recurring themes like “Canadian or Not Canadian?” (Joe Piscopo . . . not Canadian), and perennial favorite “Which of these is not an actual porno title?”
