  “Life-altering” is how one of our editors describes FreshDirect. Since revving up its refrigerated delivery trucks in September, this outfit has become an overnight success. You shop on the Website, choosing from a full range of national brands, but the real draw is a huge selection of fish, cheese, meat, and produce (one of the founders cut his teeth at Fairway). Then you book a two-hour delivery slot (between 4 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. during the week or 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the weekend) and voilà, chilled crates of fresh fare arrive at your door. Its all so straight-from-the-farm that we once had a head of lettuce last a full ten days in the fridge without wilting. Mr. D’Agostino had better watch his back. .
