Even if you’re not about to face the wrath of Joan Rivers, a little sartorial coaching never hurts. The take-no-prisoners personal shopper Dorian May sharpened her innate sense of style at Parsons in Paris before moving on to cover fashion for Elsa Klensch on CNN, then for AccessHollywood and Fox. When she comes to your sorry closet, she’ll start by weeding out the frayed, faded, and dated. “The most common problem is that people have amazing pieces without the right items to pull them together,’’ she explains. The missing key items go on her shopping list, whereupon the two of you hit the street. Her talent doesn’t come cheap, but for your $150 an hour, you get an eagle eye who knows the stores and finds things fast. And isn’t she worth it if you start wearing the hundreds of dollars’ worth of stuff that’s been hanging for years, untouched, in your closet?
