Why go?

Before Sex and the City, the warehouses in this hood were full of cow carcasses and men in bloody coats. These days, almost all of that is gone and the quaint cobblestone streets are packed with hopeful glitterati hopping from one chic venue to the next. The area may not be quite as trendy as it once was, but it's still a scene with plenty of designer boutiques, velvet ropes, and celebrities dining in some of the city's hottest restaurants.

Tips

Since many establishments serve scrumptious food until the wee hours, this area is often a great choice for late-night dining. After 4 a.m., the dance floors close and restaurants are mobbed by famished clubgoers looking to fuel up before they head home.
