Hair Band, Next Generation

You might think you’re better off without Coheed and Cambria’s self-indulgent, comic-book-influenced fantasy rock—after all, the upstate New York band intermingles the oft-derided genres of emo and prog, and singer Claudio Sanchez does sound like Geddy Lee of Rush. But the most remarkable thing about his band, which this fall will release the terrific third installment of a bizarre quadrilogy about a space rebel, is how oddly moving their music really is. At their last New York show, hundreds of teenagers pogoed wildly, shouting every obscure lyric. They weren’t afraid of looking geeky. Why should you be?

No World for Tomorrow
