The
Statue of Freedom
- James Hubbs Syracuse, New York
A companion piece to The Statue of Liberty, The Statue of Freedom
is based on the statue that graces the capital dome in Washington,
D.C. Lady Freedom rises up from the ashes of the World Trade
Center disaster symbolizing that in attacking our freedom the
terrorists have only made us, and our freedom, stronger.
The Statue of Freedom will be constructed with the same copper
exterior that the The Statue of Liberty is made with and within
a few years will change color to that familiar shade of green
we all know and love.
The base of the statue, as well as a large portion inside the
statue itself, will be the new World Trade Center building where
thousands of people will continue to conduct business.
And at the feet of Lady Freedom, at the top of the pedestal, will be engraved
the names of all those who died in the terrorist attack.
