Carolina Herrera

Herrera’s third-floor bridal salon draws women looking for intricate, high-fashion gowns. This year’s collection features strapless gowns, sweetheart bodices, and lace detail in abundance. Herrera also offers mother-of-the-bride ensembles, veils, and wraps. Alterations are a $500 flat fee.

Chanel

For those who don’t want to go through six weeks of fittings, Chanel’s well-made, classic clothing is a good option. Timeless white suits ($6,980) as well as designer Karl Lagerfeld’s usual ready-to-wear pastels are always appropriate. The beautiful Ecru satin dress ($7,590) is just divine. Alterations not included.

David's Bridal

David’s remains the ultimate destination for affordable dresses (from $299), and they just opened an outpost in Manhattan. In addition to the store’s own collection, David’s carries Galina gowns and Oleg Cassini dresses. Brides should check in every few months to find out when the store’s 99-Dollar Days will take place. Alterations not included.

Designer Loft

This full-service atelier is the place to go for high-end bridal designers: Adele Wechsler, Jenny Packham, and Rosa Clara. Its selection of styles and sizes suits all body types and includes temple-ready designs for orthodox ceremonies. Silk gowns start at $1,500, and custom gowns at $3,000. Alterations are $300.

Dominique Daniela Studio

From her Victorian-themed salon, Dominique Daniela Pino-Santiago offers a ready-to-wear line (from $1,800) as well as custom designs (prices upon request). The eco-friendly Green Gown line is made of organic linens, cottons, and organza.

Gabriella Risatti stocks about 50 exclusive-to-her-store styles from seven designers, including Matthew Christopher and Renella De Fina. Risatti also carries jewelry, as well as vintage and custom veils and headpieces. Gowns range from $2,000 to $10,000. Alterations start at $500.
