Something funny happened while SoulCycle and Flywheel were busy expanding their empires and inspiring near riots when classes booked up: Another competitor sneaked through the cracks. Revolve combines the best of both those worlds: cadence screens on every bike à la Flywheel with the rah-rah energy of SoulCycle. Three classes are on offer here ($25 to $28 per session, plus $2 shoe rental): the 45-minute Real Ride, which simulates outdoor cycling; a 45-minute Body Ride, with an eight-minute arm series; and the hour-long Rip Ride, with two eight-minute arm intervals. Spirited instructors motivate the sweat-drenched professionals who fill the bike seats by shouting words of encouragement (“It’s a lovefest in here!”) and dropping party-ready tracks (think “Thrift Shop,” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis). Most important, though, you don’t need to tweet the #SoulFairy to get in.
